Vision Statement

At Oystermouth Primary School, we can all shine bright if we believe and achieve. We want to empower everyone to be STARS!

A ctive, happy, healthy, caring and confident individuals.
R esponsible, respectful and ethical citizens who engage with their community, Wales and the wider world.

School Aims

The School Governing Body has adopted the Local Authority’s policy on the curriculum and its provision. The underlying principles are as follows:

the whole person will be developed within a framework of moral values;
learning is a life-long process;
all learners are of equal value whatever their stage of development and capacity for learning;
the learner's education is a process shared with the family, the establishment and the community;
the education provided for each learner shall be broad, balanced, coherent, differentiated and relevant.

The aims which arise from these principles are:

To nurture in all persons positive attitudes to learning which will enable them to adapt to new ideas and methods and thereby achieve their full potential.
To help learners to become self-reliant, self-respecting and responsible adults.
To develop in all individuals the capacity to work both collaboratively and independently, and also the ability to decide on the appropriate method for the task.
To promote equality of opportunity and respect for all men and women irrespective of race and gender.
To preserve and develop our own cultural identity within Wales while at the same time promoting an understanding of, and a respect for, cultures and creeds different from our own.

At Oystermouth we strive to develop the whole person and to foster independence within each learner. The content of the curriculum is broad, balanced and relevant and all pupils follow the National Curriculum. Teachers plan the content together to ensure that it is stimulating, interesting and up-to-date. There is a great emphasis placed on the teaching and acquisition of skills which are transferable across all areas of the curriculum.
