At Oystermouth Primary, we pride ourselves on being a fully inclusive school, who provide equal opportunities for every young person who walks through our doors. All children are valued, respected and nurtured, and we endeavour to give everyone the support to ‘Believe, Achieve and Shine Bright’.
We recognise that all pupils come to school at different stages of development and with different needs. Whilst many factors contribute to the range of difficulties experienced by some children, we believe that much can be done to overcome them by parents, teachers and pupils working together.
Some Useful Information and Links:
At Oystermouth Primary School, we recognise that all pupils are individual and come to school at different stages of development and with different needs. As a school we work closely with the pupils, class teachers, families and outside agencies to ensure that progress is made and that any difficulties experienced by any pupil can be overcome through working in a holistic way. The well-being of every pupil is at the forefront of everything that we do and we endeavour to help and support each individual to the best of our abilities. Our ALN Coordinator is Mrs Myers. She works closely with all staff to ensure we meet the needs of all children.
Our Aims:
The principles underpinning our approach to ALN are:
Pupils who meet our criteria for having ALN will require a graduated response through the following levels of support;
ALN children will need additional or different support from that given to other children of the same age. As a school we understand the importance of early identification of ALN and early intervention to help support our pupils.
Parent ALN Record of Concern Form
If you have any concerns about your child’s learning needs or require additional support for them in school, please complete the Parent ALN Record of Concern Form, use the button below to access it. This will help us better understand your child’s needs and how we can support them. Once completed, please return the form to Mrs Myers, ALNCo: MyersV@hwbcymru.net.
School based Intervention programmes:
Within school we have a full and thorough menu of intervention programmes available to the children. In discussion with the pupils and class teacher, areas for development are identified and then targeted through these short, frequent, purposeful sessions. The programmes we currently use include: Catch Up Numeracy, Catch Up Literacy, Language Link, POPAT, Toe by Toe, WellComm, ELSA, Stareway to Spelling and SCERTS.
Below you will find links to more information about ALN and the Universal Learning Provision (ULP) provided at Oystermouth Primary School.
