Nursery Class

Morning Nursery Session

Dear Parents and Carers,

WELCOME TO NURSERY

I would like to welcome your child to nursery and hope that they settle in well.  This is my first year at Oystermouth and I am really looking forward to getting to know you all.

I believe in a partnership between the school and home, and so welcome communication with parents regarding support and advice about your child’s welfare and time in nursery.  Nursery is about children’s emotional, social and personal growth and development and prepares them for school life.

We have a number of interesting topics over the next year, and will be starting with something that is on our own doorstep – “What is in our square mile?”.  We will be finding out what is in our village and will hopefully be able to go out on a number of walks and visits.  As the visits depend on the number of helpers available, I would be grateful if you could provide me with a day in the week when you would be available to support such visits. Please could you respond as soon as possible via Dojo as I am hoping to plan a walk on the second week of term.  If you are unable to contact me on Dojo please e-mail me on BawdenS9@hwbcymru.net.

I will be sending out weekly letters on a Friday via ClassDojo.  This is also where I will send out any other communication to you.  However, if you need to see me in person we can arrange a suitable time either face to face or via Teams.

Children can bring a small bag into school with a named water bottle.

The children will be given fruit and drink (milk or water) during their break.  I would kindly ask you to send in £1 a week on a Monday enclosed in an envelope with your child’s name on to cover the costs. This will start week commencing 13th September.  If you have any queries regarding snacks or drink please message me on ClassDojo.

Gym sessions are provisionally arranged for Wednesday. Please could you send your child into school on this day in either navy or black joggers or shorts with a white t-shirt. This will start this week.

We intend to work outside as much as possible, so please could you ensure that your child has a coat most days. Please put names on all clothing and property.

Reading books will be sent home on a Monday, along with a reading record. Please would you kindly read with your child and discuss what is happening in the pictures and fill in the reading record. The reading books should be returned on a Thursday.

Coming home by the end of the first week will be your child’s Hwb login and password which will used for a number of activities. This will be explained further when the passwords are issued.

Please make me aware of any allergies or medical needs, or if your child uses an asthma pump.

I hope this has given you some idea of what we will be doing, and I look forward to working with you this year.

With best wishes

Miss S Bawden
