Dear parents and children,
This is just a quick letter to introduce myself and let you know about routines for Reception.
I am Miss Draper and am the Reception class teacher. Mrs Aston and Miss Seacombe are general TAs in class and Mrs Franklin and Mrs Hill support particular children.
In the morning the children will come in through the main door and put lunch bags and boxes on the blue shelves. For break time we invite the children to bring in fruit for a snack, in a labelled box or bag or with name written directly on the fruit or on a sticker. Milk will also be available to children at morning break time and water is available throughout the day from the dispenser. If the children are having school dinners we will record this on Squid (you will need to have an account for them to have dinners) and they can choose what they would prefer. It would be useful if the children are aware when they come in if they are having packed lunch or school dinners but if they are unsure we can always check the lunch bags as this is sometimes difficult for them to remember at first! At least for the first week I will go up with the children to the canteen and make sure they are happy and have what they need just to get them used to the lunchtime routine.
Tuesday is our gym day. In Reception we don’t have a special gym kit or shoes, we just do gym in pants and vest or t-shirt (without buttons). You can put a vest or t-shirt on under uniform or send one in. Please make sure all your child’s clothes are labelled with their name as it is impossible not to have mix-ups when they are all getting changed!
Books are sent home on a Friday. Please bring them back in by Wednesday the week afterwards.
I will be using ClassDojo as a means of communication and reward points for the children, and this is the best way to get hold of me quickly as I always have it open on my laptop as soon as I get into school. You can also email me on email@example.com but if there is an urgent message it’s best to use ClassDojo or have a quick word / send in a note when your child comes in in the morning.
If you have any other questions or concerns please do not hesitate to pop in and see me.
