Welcome back! I hope you have all had a lovely Summer.

The theme for this term is ‘Fantastic Food and Farming’. With this in mind, if you or any other family member would like to come to school and speak about or demonstrate any profession, hobby or any other skill you may have connected with ‘Food’, please let me know. Children learn, enjoy and respond very well to visits and visitors.

As part of the theme the children will be tasting lots of different foods. If your child has any food allergies, please let me know as soon as possible.

The Year 2 children are taking part in the Kerbcraft Road Safety Training Scheme organised by the City & County of Swansea Road Safety team. Please complete and return the attached consent form.

So that your child can play a full part in school activities they will require the following items:

  • A labelled book bag to transport books, letters etc. to and from school.
  • A labelled recorder for a recorder lesson every Monday afternoon.
  • Shorts or joggers, T-shirt, sweatshirt and trainers for P.E. every Thursday morning. This session will be outdoors whenever possible, so please ensure appropriate kit is brought in.
  • If your child would like to bring in a bottle of water for class use, please bring in a labelled bottle. Please note that this should only be water in class.

Homework is not compulsory in the Foundation Phase but every Monday, your child will be given a literacy and numeracy activity to complete. This may include online activities using Hwb or MyMaths. More details about online homework will follow. Your child may need help with some of the activities, but if your child is having major difficulties, please let me know.

Your child can also take home a reading book as often as they wish. Please complete the ‘Home Reading Journal’ so I can keep a record of the books your child has read. Please encourage your child to change their book at least once a week.

Every week, we will have a “Special Person of the Week”, recognised for good behaviour and general attitude to school and friends.

If you would like to know any more information about the topics or if you have any questions or problems about your child’s education and progress, please do not hesitate to come and see me or contact me on Class Dojo. You can also email me at
