About Our Class
Welcome to Dosbarth Oxwich. We believe that learning should be fun, practical and relevant. I want the children in my care to feel safe, heard and valued.
You only get one chance at a Primary education so this needs to be challenging and exciting.
Big Questions for the Year 2024- 2025
- Autumn Term: Who am I? / How does the world celebrate?
- Spring Term: How do things work? / Are all countries like Wales?
- Summer Term: What will I be? / Why is nature so special?
Special Projects/Events:
- Autumn Term: The Butterfly Hunter (Theatr na nOg), Christmas concert with The English School (Cadiz) and Christmas concert in All Saints.
- Spring Term: Local history visits, Waterfront Museum and Swansea Museum, St David’s Day/Eisteddfod.
- Summer Term: Residential ‘Brecon’, Primary Partners Performance in Grand Theatre, Summer Concert
Class Routines
Thursday we have P.E. – please wear P.E. kit to school.
Every day, please make sure you have a named water bottle and healthy snack.
Children are encouraged to develop their independence and change their reading books as and when they need to.
Classroom Expectations
Good behaviour is essential in any community and at Oystermouth Primary School we have high expectations for this. The school community abides by the Oystermouth Way:

These are rewarded by Dojo points, allowing children to buy different things as physical reward.

We have a class charter linked to the UNCRC. They change each year but the central ideas are:

- Be the best version of you that you can be.
- Opportunity is not a lengthy visitor, take them when they arise.

- Homework Menu is sent our every term.
- Maths tasks are on MyMaths and TT Rockstars.
- Weekly spelling tests with new differentiated spellings linked to ability.
- Daily reading
Parent/Carer Information
- Listen to your child read daily.
- Practise times tables.
- Visit places and do exciting things in different places.
- Encourage children to be curious about why things happen and ask questions about what they are interested in. Education is a partnership between home and school. So many things are taught away from the classroom.
