About Our Class
Croeso i’r Dosbarth Rotherslade! We are a curious, creative and very imaginative class who love learning through play!
Our classroom (both indoors and outdoors) is always full of fun, hands on activities which engage us and encourage us to become independent learners and problem solvers!
Big Questions for the Year 2024- 2025
- Autumn Term: Who am I? / How does the world celebrate?
- Spring Term: How do things work? / Are all countries like Wales?
- Summer Term: What will I be? / Why is nature so special?
Special Projects/Events:
- Autumn Term: Harvest Assembly, Children in Need Day, Christmas Concert.
- Spring Term: Red Nose Day, World Autism Awareness Day.
- Summer Term: Summer Concert, Sports Day, RNLI 200th Anniversary.
Class Routines
PE/Gym session Monday afternoon- please can the children wear their comfy PE kit to school.
Drink & Fruit Snack, please bring a named water bottle and healthy snack daily.
Daily outdoor learning, please send your child into school every day with a coat.
Class Mascot, each week the children will take it in turns to bring our Tedi Twt home for the weekend. This is an opportunity to practise your Welsh skills together.

In Dosbarth Rotherslade we always try to remember our ‘Class Charter’ which we agree on at the beginning of the year. These are displayed in our classroom.
Homework
- Homework menu sent home in homework book every half term.
- Weekly reading books sent home every Friday and to be returned the following Wednesday.
- Reading Eggs, LetterJoin & Numbots practise.
Parent/Carer Information
- Reading to your child regularly helps develop language skills, imagination, and a love of books. Choose a variety of books and make reading a fun and interactive experience by asking questions and discussing the stories.
- Engage in conversations with your child, listen to them, and encourage them to express themselves. This practice helps develop their communication skills and boosts their confidence.
- Encourage independence e.g. dressing, tidying up.
- Encourage plenty of indoor and outdoor play.
- Never hesitate to get in touch with your child’s teacher for any support/queries about your child’s progress.
Parent/Teacher Communication:
- Weekly letter on Class Dojo uploaded every Monday morning, outlining the learning and any important information for the week.
- Weekly photos uploaded on Class Dojo.
- Private messaging system on Class Dojo for teacher/parent communication.
- Parent consultations in Autumn and Spring term.
- Parent open evening in Summer term.
- Written report in Summer term.
