Our Vision

At Oystermouth, we aim to provide a supportive and happy environment where pupils thrive. Guided by our motto *Believe, Achieve and Shine Bright*, we focus on wellbeing, inclusion, and inspiring every child to reach their full potential through engaging and meaningful learning experiences.

What We’re Proud Of

  • A strong, values-led ethos built around the four core purposes of the Curriculum for Wales.
  • An inclusive, nurturing environment with robust support for Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
  •  Pupils who are confident, respectful and engaged in school life – living ‘The Oystermouth Way’ – Be ready, Be safe, Be respectful.
  • Dedicated, collaborative staff and positive partnerships with families and the wider community.
  • Creative, locally relevant curriculum experiences that build skills for life.
  • Awards achieved: Sustrans Bronze, Healthy Schools Phase 5, Fairtrade Achiever, Rights Respecting Bronze, Siarter Iaith Bronze.
  • Active enrichment opportunities including sports, music, and charity events.

Our Priorities for 2024–2025

Further develop pupils Welsh oracy skills so they use the language naturally outside of lessons.

Strengthen Welsh oracy across the school and aim for Siarter Iaith Silver.

 

Continuation of the co-construction/evaluation of Oystermouth’s curriculum that enables all learners to make progress. Focus – Computational strand of DCF

Continue shaping a rich, pupil-led curriculum that supports progression and authentic learning.

Focus on the computational aspects of the Digital Competence Framework (DCF).

 

Upskill staff in leadership roles to understand specifically what they are accountable for and provide support to develop skills to enable them to fulfil these duties effectively.

Develop leadership skills at all levels, ensuring clear accountability and support.

Refine curriculum planning and assessment to ensure it meets pupils’ developmental needs.

Embed teaching standards and foster a culture of enquiry through action research.

How We’ll Get There

  • Regularly review our strategic plan to track progress.
  • Engage all stakeholders in self-evaluation and improvement.
  • Work closely with our School Improvement Advisor, cluster schools, and external partners.
  • Strengthen pupil voice through classroom planning and pupil groups.
  • Use local and national support services to meet the needs of our learners and families.
