After School Club

At Oystermouth Primary School, we understand the importance of providing a safe, engaging, and supportive environment for children outside of regular school hours. Our After School Club (ASC) is fully registered with the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW), ensuring the highest standards of childcare are maintained. Here’s what you need to know:

Who Can Attend?

The ASC is available to all pupils from Dosbarth Limeslade (Nursery) to Dosbarth Rhossili (Y6). It offers a structured yet relaxed environment that caters to the needs of our pupils and supports parents with after-school care.

Operating Hours

The club operates every school day from 3:20pm until 5:30pm (excl. Fridays, which finishes at 4:30pm). Children are collected from their classrooms at 3:20pm and brought to the club where they are signed in by our dedicated team. You can opt to book your child(ren) in until 4:30pm or 5:30pm. You can collect earlier than these times if needed.

Activities and Supervision

Our ASC provides a variety of activities designed to cater to all interests and energy levels, including:

• Sports and physical activities
• Arts and crafts
• Quiet reading and homework time
• Free play

Generally if the weather is dry, the ASC will use the outdoor areas. All activities are supervised by qualified staff who are trained to create a nurturing environment that helps children unwind and have fun after a busy school day.

Snacks

Please provide a healthy snack for your child(ren) to enjoy at ASC. The children are often hungry at the end of the school day.

Cost and Booking

The cost of ASC is £7.00 per child until 4:30pm or £9.00 per child until 5:30pm. Places must be booked on sQuid (under “Bookings”) by 11:00pm the night before to manage our resources effectively and maintain the required staff-to-child ratios as stipulated by CIW.

If your child is new to ASC, you will need to complete an ASC registration form, please contact the office for a copy of this form.

We accept employment scheme childcare vouchers (CCVs) and Tax Free Childcare as payment for ASC, please contact the office to arrange this. Once set up, the office will credit your sQuid account for you to use for ASC bookings.

Collecting Your Child(ren) from ASC

Please go to the Newton Road gate and if needed call 07395 115787 to speak to the ASC staff and let them know you are there to collect. Please note this number is not in use during the school day, just during ASC hours.

Cancellation

If you have booked ASC and no longer require it, please contact the office to cancel the booking as soon as possible. We will only be able to offer a refund if at least 24 hours notice is given, this does not apply to non-attendance due to illness (or sibling illness).

Third Party After School Activities & ASC

For some third party provided after school activities we do offer bespoke ASC sessions, please see sQuid for what is available.

For example; we offer Monday Gym Club for £2.50, which is childcare from 3:20pm to 3:45pm each Monday for those children booked onto Gymnastic Studios gymnastics classes on Mondays at 3:45pm. We offer similar for Tuesdays Mini Media Art Club, a 4:30pm to 5:30pm session. Please do not confuse these bespoke ASC sessions on sQuid with the actual clubs/activities themselves, the activities need to be booked directly with the third party organisers.

Where school offers free of charge after school activities operated by our own staff (e.g. Football Club, Lego Club etc) we do not offer bespoke ASC sessions, should your child require ASC after a free of charge activity, please book one of the regular sessions (4:30pm or 5:30pm) on sQuid.
