Oystermouth Primary School pupils took on the TCS Mini London Marathon in Schools challenge during April, joining more than one million children across the country who have taken part since 2020.
The challenge invited children of all ages and abilities to run, jog, walk, wheel or be guided around a two-mile course within their school setting. At Oystermouth, the two-mile distance was worked out as 28 laps of the school yard.
Pupils completed the challenge during the same week in April, with some of the older classes completing all 28 laps in one go, while other classes spread the distance across the week to suit the ages and abilities of the children taking part.
Mr Greenwood praised the children for their effort and determination throughout the challenge. He said: “The children showed fantastic enthusiasm and resilience all week. It was brilliant to see them encouraging each other and taking part in such a positive challenge together.”
The event was a fantastic way to encourage physical activity, resilience and teamwork, while also giving pupils the chance to be part of a national initiative linked to the London Marathon.
Well done to everyone who took part.
