Oystermouth Primary School’s Year 5 and Year 6 rugby team proudly represented the school at the Gower Sector Inter School Rugby Tournament on Friday 15th May.
The tournament, organised by the Gower Neighbourhood Policing Team with support from the WRU and Ospreys in the Community, brought local schools together for a fantastic day of rugby. The event has been revived after last being held in 2019.
The Oystermouth team played brilliantly throughout the day, showing skill, determination and excellent teamwork. Their strong performances saw them progress all the way to the semi-final.
Mr Greenwood, who coached the team, said he was extremely proud of the boys, not only for how well they played, but also for the positive attitude, respect and sportsmanship they showed throughout the tournament.
Even more impressively, the team was later awarded the Fair Play Shield. This award was chosen by the tournament organisers, with input from staff from Ospreys in the Community, and recognises the team that conducted themselves in the most sporting manner.
The shield was presented in a special assembly by PCSO Andrew Brown and PCSO Chris Dix, who visited the school to celebrate the team’s achievement. Mrs Morgan, Headteacher, said she was incredibly proud of the pupils and was very moved by the recognition they had received.
The school would also like to thank all the parents who helped with transport to and from the tournament. Your support made it possible for the team to take part and is very much appreciated.
A huge well done to all the players:
Dosbarth Rhossili: Hani, Owen, Lorenzo, Macsen and Finley.
Dosbarth Oxwich: Rhys, Max, Jo, Dylan O, Dylan R, Theo, Ayden, Noah and Tom.
Congratulations to the whole team on a fantastic achievement. You represented Oystermouth Primary brilliantly.
